What can I do to lower my out-of-pocket cost for Wegovy (semaglutide)?

To lower your out-of-pocket cost for Wegovy®, you can get Wegovy covered by insurance (usually, with prior authorization). Novo Nordisk also offers a Wegovy savings card. If Wegovy is covered by your insurance plan, you can save up to $200 per 28-day supply. If it is not covered by your insurance plan, you can save up to $500 per 28-day supply.

With insurance, the cost can sometimes go as low as a $25 copay for Wegovy per month – which is what Novo Nordisk alleges is what the majority of patients taking Wegovy pay

However, with a Wegovy savings card, you can even get the cost of Wegovy down to $0 for a whole year - think of it as a type of Wegovy coupon, even for those without insurance that covers Wegovy. You can also talk to the experienced medical providers at Form Health for assistance in determining whether your insurance will cover Wegovy or how else you can lower your out-of-pocket cost of Wegovy if you’re not sure how to go about these methods.

Some people choose to get compounded (“generic”) medications instead of choosing a brand name like Wegovy. Keep in mind, though, that these compounded weight loss medications may be dangerous, as their manufacturers don’t have the same precautions set in place to make sure the medication is safe for all intended use cases and at common dosages. Form is dedicated to providing quality evidence-based medical weight loss care. The National Obesity Medicine Association recently published an extensive position statement advising against using compounded peptides, and highlights the risk to individuals. Form is aligned with the position of the national Obesity Medicine Association. We do not prescribe compounded medication.

We always recommend talking to your doctor about your concerns regarding medication costs, and any alternative plans you may be researching.
