Why Am I Not Losing Weight on Wegovy (Semaglutide)?

There could be many reasons why a person is not losing weight while on Wegovy® (semaglutide). Age, amount of regular exercise, dietary habits, and other medical conditions that impact weight can play a role in why someone may not be losing weight on semaglutide or other  weight loss medications. In fact, a study found that approximately 17% of people taking Wegovy did not lose at least 5% of their body weight by the end of the 68-week study. Typically we would expect at least 5% body weight loss after 3 months on the medication, but in some cases, people do not experience significant weight loss until they are on the highest approved doses of this medication. Nevertheless, medications are just one tool in our FORM’s weight loss toolbox and are to be used in combination with (not in place of) lifestyle changes including reduced-calorie intake, healthy nutrition, increased physical activity, and behavior change. If you are not losing weight while on Wegovy, be sure to discuss this with your prescribing medical provider.
