Is Wegovy Weekly or Daily?

Wegovy® is an injectable medication that is taken once weekly. This is because the medication has a half-life - or the time it takes for 50% of the drug to be removed from your body - of seven days. Taking Wegovy every seven days will ensure adequate drug levels are maintained. Taking Wegovy more frequently than recommended can lead to dangerously high levels of the drug in your body, which can cause serious side effects such as severe nausea and vomiting. If you miss a dose, and it has been less than five days since you were supposed to take the medication, administer the dose as soon as possible. If more than five days have elapsed since the missed dose, skip that dose and resume taking the medication on your next scheduled day. If it has been more than two weeks since your last dose, contact your prescribing healthcare provider.

Wegovy® is a registered trademark of Novo Nordisk A/S.
