Can You Drink Alcohol on Saxenda® (Liraglutide)?

Alcohol in moderation is likely safe while taking Saxenda®. However, there are other reasons why it might not be a good idea to drink alcohol in combination with this medication. This is because alcohol lowers our inhibitions and provides additional calories which may make it harder to stick to our healthy eating plan and maintain a calorie deficit. Additionally, Saxenda commonly causes gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, heartburn and diarrhea which may be worsened with alcohol intake. It is important you discuss your alcohol use with your doctor prior to and while using a Saxenda prescription as your provider may recommend avoiding alcohol completely based on your medical history and other medications you may be taking.

Saxenda® is a registered trademark of Novo Nordisk A/S.
