How do I inject Ozempic (semaglutide)?

Follow these directions on how to inject Ozempic®:

To start, remove the cap from the Ozempic® pen, then prepare the needle by removing the paper tab. Place the needle on the pen and twist until tight. Remove the larger outer cap then the smaller inner cap to expose the needle. You will need to use a new needle for each injection. If it is the first time using the pen, you will need to check the flow by dialing the “dose counter” (white window) to the “flow check” symbol (two dots ..), then press the gray dose button and hold until the dial returns to 0. You should also see a drop of the medication at the tip of the needle.  Next, you’ll turn the dial to the dose you are prescribed (if starting this will be 0.6 mg) then inject under the skin of your abdomen, outer thigh, or back of the upper arm. Before you inject, make sure you are able to see the dose counter, then insert the needle, press the gray dose button, and hold until the dose counter returns to 0 and you have counted to 6 before removing it from the skin. Afterwards, carefully remove the needle from the pen by twisting it off and disposing of it in a sharps container. For more information, check out this instructional video.
